Hector Manuel Sagunto The synthesis of process and narrative is what I strive for in my work. The process involves working with weathered, corroded, or faded objects, the memento mori of our consumerism, and drawing from our common currency of cultural images. The process involves juxtaposing these objects, comparing myths and histories, glazing, stenciling and photo-transferring image upon image. The process becomes the narrative, since the elements I incorporate and the act of creating and sometimes destroying shows a struggle with time. Through the process, metaphors I create for history and memory become literal for me and it becomes easy to see History and Memory as artistic endeavors themselves – Endeavors to build new perceptions from fragile and fragmented parts. |

Patrick HansonMy diverse upbringing and exposure to many parts of the world has greatly affected me in endeavors in a greater understanding of life, and is often reflected in my art. I try to engage the viewer in a journey of exploration of the work. I have always been analytical in many facets of my life, it is a point I feel many people do not come to, unless provoked by a outside source. The process of "why do I?", or "what makes me?" and the ability to vocalize it, is one of our greatest unused abilities. |
